Post Activities from 2008

9 am Christmas morning found our Santa (Commander Doug Shields) and Mrs. Claus (his wife Renee) visiting the Veterans at Louisville's Veterans Hospital. His cute little elves are Ladies Auxiliary President Arlene Schwartz and Sgt. of Arms Marilyn Wheeler.

(And just for the record, the beard is real!)

Welcome Home Roscoe!

On December 13, 2008 we welcomed Lieutenant Commander Roscoe Burns, Jr. Supply Corps, United States Navy (RC) home from active duty. He had been called March of 2008, and ended up in Iraq. He made us proud!

We were tickled to have him home, and threw a little party. Everyone showed up, even Jeffersontown's Mayor Clay Foreman!

The Halloween Party Was Great!

Jello Shots, a DJ, and $50 each for the best male and female costumes made for a great party!

The Ladies Auxiliary Cake Wheel
Turned Into a Pie Toss.

The Ladies Auxiliry hosted a Cake Wheel at The Big Smoke-Out. It was big fun for everyone. Well, almost everyone...
500 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies found their way to our troops currently serving in Iraq, and other countries because Michael Cook of the G.I. Joe American Legion Post 244, and the Girl Scouts of Girl Scout Troop 1320 thought our troops deserved some Girl Scout Cookies too!

So, they got the ball rolling with 400 boxes, and Girl Scout Troop 369 added about 100 more boxes to make it even.

After the cookies were unloaded, members of the G.I. Joe Post recognized Jeffersontown's Mayor Clay Foreman for his support of Veterans.

Then the party started! Click Here for a few more photos.

2008 Pegasus Parade

For this year's Pegasus Parade, The G.I. Joe Post and the City of Jeffersontown teamed-up to wrangle a huge red, white and blue American Eagle.

Jim Schmackers shot some great photos of the parade, and we thank him! Click Here to take a look.

On Sunday, May 18 we had a CornHole Tournament, and the Liquid Stumpblasters were back by popular demand.
(The band sent us these photos and we thank them.)

We hope they come back soon!
