A most solemn event, these formal proceedings are conducted in accordance with Legion regulations that were approved thru Resolution #440, in 1937. G.I. Joe Post 244 is proud to be one of a handful of Posts in the state of Kentucky to orchestrate and oversee these retirement ceremonies.
This year's event was held on Mr. Hugh Colbert's farm on June 15, 2002. It was a beautiful evening. There was great food, a respectful ceremony and good company. All enjoyed on rolling fields of freshly mown grass. The flags were ignited precisely at sunset, finally flaming into a breathtaking display. The photos are courtesy of Ray Goings.
