National Convention Parade
The 2009 American Legion National Convention is behind us now.
What a wonderful week it was!
G.I. Joe Post 244 was proud to lead the Kentucky Delegation at the end of the parade. Click Here for a short clip (It's a flash file. When the 'file download' box pops up, click 'open'.) The lovely lady telling the Delegation they are 'looking good' was a bystander.
On February 15th, 2009 we welcomed Spc Aubrey Hayes, Jr. home from a year in Iraq. Spc Hayes served with the National Guard 223rd Military Police Unit.
He is the son of Former Commander and Post Officer Aubrey Hayes, Sr.

G.I. Joe's Chili CookOff!
Originally this cookoff was planned for January 31st, but Kentucky's weather forced most of us to think about other things.
By February 15th, everyone was powered back up and ready for some chili. And...it was just in time to kick-off the Daytona 500 and NASCAR!
(The CookOff was a tie. Marilyn Wheeler and Ray Carter tossed a coin for the win. Marilyn won the toss but, they should both get bragging rights for a year...;-)
